In My Mailbox

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren. What you do is you sum up the books you received, you read, etc. So, here we go:
This week I got:
  • 'The Five Books of Moses' by God knows who. The pictures left and below should give you an impression of the awesomness that is this book.
  • 'The Best American Short Stories 1945' edited by Martha Foley'
  • 'The Shakespeare Manuscript' by Stewart Buettner. Definitly check out the link, cause that is one cool website!
  • 'Oedipus Trilogy' (play) by Sophocles. I translated some of this during my Greek studies and I absolutly love Antigone.
  • 'The Moonstone' by Wilkie Collins. The first English detective novel is now mine!

As you can see I mainly got myself classics again, but you can't go wrong with classics, because if they were bad they wouldn't have survived over time. Oedipus is probably my favourite Greek tragedy. It is so trgic and beautiful and I could never really blame Oedipus for anything that happened to him, not even marrying and impregnating his mother. But my favourite character is definitly Antigone. She is one strong woman!

I have been reading 'The Hawk And His Boy' by Stewart Buettner for a couple of days now and I love it! In his best moments, and there are a lot of good moments, you are completely inside of the story. If that makes any sense.

So what books did you get this week and what have you been reading? Do you have a favourite Greek tragedy?
