Teaser Tuesday

This is a weekly meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
•Grab your current read
•Open to a random page
•Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
•BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
•Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week I chose a book I've already read, but I really, really enjoyed. It's a great story and I think you probably know it by name: A Thousand Splendid Suns.

Laila was glad, when the Taliban went to work, that Babi wasn't around to witness it. It would have crippled him. Men wielding pickaxes swarmed the dilapidated Kabul Museum and smashed pre-Islamic statues to rubble - that is, those that hadn't already been looted by the Mujahideen.
