Book Blogger Hop
And the Book Blogger Hop also came back!! Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy for Books and this weeks question is:
What book influenced you or changed your life? How did it influence/ change you?
That's an easy one! J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion definitly changed my life, along with The Lord of the Rings. He created an entire world, based on Old Scandinavian tales and Old English and thereby reinvented the fantasy-genre. He wrote an Ur-fantasy book, that contains so many links to so many different old books, like the Bible and Beowulf.
It just showed me how much more writing can be than just words. Tolkien put so much morality and ethics into his works. He has inspired so many people with his work and has shown that fantasy can be a new way of looking at reality!
So what book inspired you? And don't forget to enter the giveaway!!!
An old follower hopping by:)I find it difficult to point out only one book, but if I had to, The Lord of the Rings would be my choicce, too.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend:)
Great answer to the hop question! It's awesome that Tolkien inspired you in such a positive way.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! :]
ReplyDeleteI'm actually not a fan of Tolkien's works. Could never get into his style of writing.
Oh! Also, I love the Oscar Wilde quote you have at the bottom!
Great answer. I never really thought of Tolien's works like that. Enlightening!

Whilst I have only admiration for Tolkein's imagination and the world he created, I find his writing style a bit ... boring. For me it's one of the few instances when I actually prefer the films to the books.
ReplyDeleteGood choice! I adore LOTR. It's such a rich, imaginative story. Not life-changing for me, but definitely enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteGlad to have found you via the Hop!
I don't know if this book changed my life but it defiantly turned me back into reading after a few year slump, Twilight. *shakes head* Yeah, I know... but what can I say.

This will probably come of something as a surprise but the book that changed/influenced my life (more than any other) is a non-fiction book. I know we all focus on novels and the fanciful fiction we love to read but The Four Work Week is the book that gets all the credit. I know the title sounds fictional but it really isn’t.
