Follow Friday and Book Blogger Hop
BBH is hosted by Crazy-for-Books and FF is hosted by Parajunkee's View,
This week's BBH Question:
“What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?“
The thing that makes me stop reading is if I can already predict what's on the next page. Some books simply surprise you and others simply follow a well-known structure. Also, I really don't like characters that are to stereotypical. An example is the typical vampire. He is broody, dark, handsome and mysterious. And usually boring. I might get a lot of criticism for this, but vampires aren't generally my cup of tea!
This week's FF Question:
ACK! Your favorite book/movie character (example Hermione Granger played by the Emma chick) just walked into the room! Who is it and what would be your first reaction? You get extra points if you include visual stimulation.
I'm sitting in a room, reading, doing nothing special. Suddenly the door opens and Gandalf walks in. My breath stops as I'm suddenly in the presence of so much wisdom. His beard is white, his coat is grey, my cheeks are red. I can't utter a single word. I simply sit there and seem to wait for something magical to happen. Gandalf reaches for his pipe and looks out the window. After endless moments og him muttering and me staring he walks out of the door. After half an hour my heart beat has gone back to normal, as I realise I just missed my chance to talk to Gandalf.
I actually met/saw Ian McKellen once, who plays Gandalf. He came to our school to talk about homosexuality and accaptance. His voice is inspiring, even in real life.
So how about you? Leave a link in your comment and I'll hop over to read and comment on your anwsers!

There are a lot of reasons that can keep me reading a book and just as many that can stop me. I'd love to meet quite a number of character from LOTR, Gandalf definitely. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Gandalf is a great choice! And I don't mind vampires, but that genre is really getting old, I must say!

ReplyDeleteI love your blog--the title speaks volumes!
Gandalf is an excellent choice and I don't think I could handle meeting Sir Ian in person. Wow! I love him as Magneto as well :)

Hey, hopping through. I agree with you. I don't like books where I can predict what is going to happen on the next page. I love being suprised.
